WHO WE ARE

Iqhayiya Design Workshop was established in 2006 to primarily conceptualise a Municipal Development Framework for a small town called Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape. Since this period, the practice has evolved into a fully-fledged architectural practice. The firm is driven by two young and dynamic architects, Kaya Qwalela and Mfundo Maphumulo,
who are passionate about the practice of excellent and pure architecture and it realisation. The company is fully HDI owned and is a BBBEE compliant contributor,
we are a LEVEL 1 Contributor. The firm is a corporate member with the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA)- Reg no. PI 4669.
The members are also registered with the South African Council of the Architectural Profession (SACAP),
SAIA as well as regional Institutes.

We have coined the axiom ‘Form follows Site Orientation’ as a form encapsulating our commitment to the zeitgeist where architectural professionals should be practicing more responsibly and consciously with regards to the impact the built environment has on the environment. The Iqhayiya Design Workshop Architects team is led under
the auspicies of the talented and driven management team. We have a dedicated team of youthful exuberance combined with techno savvy experience
who are the backbone of realizing the variety of projects the practice is undertaking.
